Exploration Activities

SnowgameThe interactive poem

A child's curiosity is a wonderful thing to encourage. And these special activites compel a child to think, look and learn as they explore new (and historical) environments.

The Christmas Mystery helps the child make the connection between what's new and old... and what new things weren't available 100 years ago. Plus, as a reward, it provides specific information on when different items of convenience were actually invented: Cars, computers, record players, radios, skateboards... even Christmas trees!

In The Night Before Christmas Interactive Poem, Spiffy the Mouse encourages the child to explore the house and discover secrets and hidden surprises... It's like a game of concentration to remember what animation triggers the next line of the poem.

Reading Activities

The Interactive PoemLetter to SantaThank You Notes

Learning to read can be an exciting time for a child -- As they discover they can understand the written word, it can give them a feeling of self-satisfaction and control over their world.

The Night Before Christmas Poem is a fun, easy to recall piece of literature that still brings a smile to adults who learned to read the poem long ago. When children learn to read the poem all by themselves, they are building on a tradition that has been continued since the poem was written over 150 years ago. The Interactive poem also helps build on that tradition, by encouraging children to explore the poem, inside and out!

In the Letters to Santa Activity, there are even ways for children who don't know how to read yet, to write letters! There are alphabet blocks which can be used to help a child learn to read their letters and to spell out what they would like for Christmas. There are also pre-written letters which are read to the child, with slots for them to fill in picures of what they want Santa to bring!

The Thank You Notes Activity also provides readable, interactive experiences which make writing Thank you notes fun! In one section of the activity, the words on the page are read to the child, and the child is encouraged to compose a letter by dragging and dropping the words onto a sheet of paper.

Letter Writing Activities

Letter to SantaThank You Notes

Written notes have been the way we have communicated for many thousands of years. But somewhere between carving a message on a stone tablet and the proliferation of the telephone, this time-honored tradition has been somewhat forgotten.

In the Letters to Santa Activity, the child is encouraged to write a letter to The Big Guy. There are a wide range of ways for the child to complete their letter -- which range from special, office letterhead that the child can actually write on, to alphabet blocks and a select-a-picture section that can be used by a child who doesn't even know how to write yet!

The Thank You Notes Activity also provides interactive experiences which encourage the special, social skill that is so important -- learning to say thank you.
