Anyway, I ran down the stairs again, got out one of Mom's best china plates, and quickly poured out the milk
that was left into a glass. Then I pulled out the box of cookies that contained only two cookies. I put them on the
china plate and the sorted out my best candy and put that on the plate also. After I had done all that, I scribbled
a note to Santa. It said:
Dear Santa:
I left some milk and cookies for you, but I didn't have enough. I am terribly sorry. But I couldn't do anything
about it. So I left you some of my best Halloween candy. I hope you will like it.

I put the note on the plate of food that was on the table that was in front of the fireplace. After I had done all this,
I ran back up the stairs and threw myself onto my bed. I tucked myself in and closed my eyes and fell asleep.
