CALENDARS

Where's Santa?

WHERE'S SANTA?

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:

  • 7 pieces of 8 1/2" x 11" paper
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Pen or marker
  • 12 of your drawings or pictures
  • Sample calendar to work from (you won't change this, but you'll need it to line up your dates)

Fold 1

  • Fold all the sheets of paper in half and form a horizontal booklet out of it. Staple the booklet on the center fold.

Fold 2

  • On the cover of the paper, write small, in a corner (in pencil, because you're going to erase this) "COVER"

Fold 3

  • Open the booklet and on the back of the first page, write "BLANK"
  • On the second page of your calendar write (in pencil, small) "PERSONAL MESSAGE"

Fold 4

  • Turn the page. On the top of the next page, write (in pencil, small) "JANUARY PICTURE"
  • On the bottom of the page, write (in pencil, small) "JANUARY DATES"
  • Turn the page. On the top of the next page, write (in pencil, small) "FEBRUARY PICTURE"
  • On the bottom of the page, write (in pencil, small) "FEBRUARY DATES"
  • Continue throughout the year until you reach DECEMBER (you should be at the back of the booklet.)

  • Now, on the pages that say "DATES" use your ruler and draw in 1" boxes. 7 boxes wide x 5 boxes high. (Keep your boxes to the RIGHT so you have room to write the month, vertically, on the LEFT)
  • Write in the months (on the LEFT) of the page.
  • Write in the numbers of the dates on your 1" boxes. (Be careful to watch your sample calendar to see where each month starts and stops.)
  • On the pages where you have written "PICTURE", draw or paste a picture in.
  • Write in special dates on the calendar - like birthdays or anniversaries, family vacations, and of course holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and Halloween!

Fold 5

  • On the "COVER" of your calendar, draw a very special picture.

Message

  • On the "PERSONAL MESSAGE" page is a perfect place for a note or a poem that you've written.

REMEMBER: Before you give your very special calendar as a gift, erase all your pencil marks!
