Go back

My dear Mister Claus,

Although I am only now becoming familiar with your work, I must commend the vastness of your approach to fulfilling the needs of those around you. As I understand it, I am to put pen to paper to catalog the things which would make me happy this season. I should warn you that wealth, or the pursuit of some indeterminable number of moneys is not on my register. I yearn for things that expand the soul and not the pocket.

On the top of the list would be educational reform, followed closely by improved sanitary measures, slum clearance and most assuredly, the abolition of slavery. As a side note, I would also desire the abolition of the distasteful predilection of Americans to chew and spit tobacco.

I am presently working on a new Christmas Book, tentatively entitled, "A Christmas Carol." It is the story of a man, not so unlike ourselves, who has lost his vision of oneness with those around him. The tale will detail this one man's journey on the road to examining his past, present, and future, where he will find his way home.

I can only hope for One and All that they may also find the time to reexamine their journey through life so as to discover their oneness with the world around them.

Peace be to all,

The Boz

Go back

Dearest Santa,

As my ever expanding family awaits this glorious eve which his nigh upon us, I should want you to know that it was always my intent with this poem, not so much to idolize you, but to express my adulation for my 6 children and their children from them. They have brought me much joy in this corner of time and will carry both you and me with them into the next millennia.

This season, I would desire for you, and all others, to watch over the world as it passes by you, taking the time to know and understand it as you travel. Also may we see fit to protect it so that as my children's children approach their 70th year on this earth, they too may have joy, peace and the beauty of life in their corner of time.

Sincerely,

Clement C. Moore, age 70*
