Jet Pilot
reviewed by the Coalition for Quality Children's Media
This video takes an in depth look at what it takes to
be a jet pilot: pilot training, equipment; use of cockpit controls; how
hand signals are used to communicate between ground crew and pilot;
maintenance operations; and going on a training mission. Adult
comments: Informative and well written, it appeals to both boys and
girls. Explains how to fly a jet. The photography was excellent. "The
aerial photography made me feel I was in the cockpit flying my own
jet!" Kids comments: Very engaging. Children learned what it takes to
be a pilot, such as going to college first. Motivated discussion about
females and minorities as pilots. "This was really real." "Can I be a
pilot?" "Do pilots make money having such fun?"
