Cats Can't Bark

by Addie May, age 10, from US

This book is dedicated to my mom and to my teacher, Mrs. Hoffman.

Not every mother cat goes through the problems I did. Do you want to hear about it? OK, here we go!

Well, it all started in Amarillo, Texas, in the middle of winter when my kittens and I lived in an old abandoned shack near Cat Claw Alley. My problem occurred when my smallest daughter, Samantha, was learning her name. Her name had three syllables or meows in it. She pronounced her name correctly the first time; then she did something wrong. It sounded like this--meow, meow, bark!
